Expand Your Horror Horizons in 2022

Horror films have always terrified and thrilled us, but for some audience members there has been something lacking when it comes to representation on screen. The horror genre has long been dominated by white men with mainly white women playing limited roles of the femme fatale or the helpless victim.

Even more limited have been roles for people of color and other marginalized groups. In more recent years, however, new voices are making horror narratives that are as inclusive as they are intense. Thanks to horror greats like Jordan Peele and new talent like Emily Bennett, horror’s new face is becoming a community of more diverse influences that show that cinematic scares are for everyone.
